| Legend has it that Stephen Gaster donated the land with the understanding that a bottle of whiskey be kept on top of his marker. Supposedly a bottle of whiskey was encased in concrete and affixed to the top of the grave marker. The day I took these pictures, I noticed that the concrete container, shaped like a pitcher, had been knocked off, probably by vandals. I could not resist the temptation to examine it. I shook it, but I didn’t hear anything liquid. It is a shame this local legend has been damaged. |
